RWF teens spent a day at the office as invited guest for a day of job shadowing at J.D. Powers and Associates of Troy on the national “Take our Sons and Daughters to Work Day.” As seen on Local 4, the girls had a chance to see the inner workings of the global market research firm where they learned how the company conducts market research, did a mock research presentation to the staff. The staff helped the teens develop their presentation skills, conducted a seminar on social media and helped them focus on planning for the future. To our surprise the day ended with a donation to the RWF of $1000.00 toward our career development programming.

“This is something we’re very excited about because we get to show the girls what we do on a daily basis, while at the same time learn about them and the challenges they face as they prepare to make choices that will affect their careers once they finish school”, said Nellie Weill, who manages the Troy Office and worked tirelessly to plan this special day with the teens along with a dozen volunteers from the J.D. Powers and Associates Staff.

This is the 5th year RWF teens have had a day of job shadowing on this annual day. The program exposes the teens to the many different career opportunities available. We are thankful for the many companies that have hosted our teens over the years including, General Motors, Comerica Bank, Compuware and Detroit Receiving Hospital.
