Our first-ever health and fitness fundraiser, Give and Get Fit, is over, but the good feelings continue. Thanks to everyone who helped make it a rousing success. A critical part of the RWF’s mission of empowering inner-city teen girls includes promoting healthier eating and fitness habits. Give and Get Fit is the culmination and highpoint of those efforts. In the words of RWF founder Rhonda Walker, “I wanted to make [Give and Get Fit] an opportunity for metro Detroiters to have fun working out together while learning and getting motivated to take better care of our bodies. The RWF focuses on empowering at-risk but promising inner city teen girls, and we want to be leaders in this community to not only teach Detroit’s youth about the importance of living healthy but also the entire metro Detroit community.” Judging from the reaction of the crowd that gathered today to support this event, mission accomplished. We look forward to seeing all of you again next year for our Second Annual Give and Get Fit fundraiser.
And thanks to Somerset Collection, the lululemon athletica ambassadors, and all of our sponsors and exhibitors for their generosity. Without their help, Give and Get Fit would not have been possible.
