Bonnie K. Smith
Vice President, Chief Information Officer
Bonnie K. Smith joined Lear in July 2016 as the Chief Information Officer. Her focus is to drive ever-increasing value from the available IT funds, to ensure that investment projects achieve their quality, schedule, and budget objectives, and to have an energized IT team in deep partnership with business colleagues globally. She also is focused on introducing digital innovation to Lear’s 275 global manufacturing locations as well as the staff support functions.
Prior to joining Lear, Bonnie held a variety of operations and IT positions: At Eaton, she was a Senior Vice President and Group CIO. At Thermo Fisher Scientific, she held both IT and Business roles including running the $1B revenue www.fisherscientific.com e-marketing and e-commerce platform, the marketing communications global shared service, and spearheaded a 16-company European business transformation. She led the global transformation of
manufacturing IT at Abbott. She was part of the start-up of McKinsey & Company’s Business Technology Office. She started her career in DuPont’s management program, and Whirlpool. Bonnie has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Indiana University in Pennsylvania
and a master’s degree in business administration with concentrations in international business and economics from the University of Chicago in Illinois.
She volunteers for Rotary International and serves as a Board Member for Mentors International, a leading micro-finance global charity. She and her husband of 26 years, Steve, reside in Novi Michigan. They enjoy fine dining (and wine), travel (Steve’s an avid golfer), and spoiling the children of their extended family.
