On Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 9 a.m. – 11a.m., the RWF will host the 6th Annual Scholar
Power Scholarship Breakfast for our 2012 high school graduates and their families at the Westin Hotel located at 1500 Town Center Drive, in Southfield, Michigan 48075. There is no charge to attend. We are simply requesting your presence so you can help us honor our scholarship recipients and experience firsthand how your support can make young girls’ dreams a reality. At this wonderful event, you will learn more about RWF and its positive impact on the teens we serve as we honor our RWF graduating seniors with well deserved scholarships for college. These students have helped raised over 35,000 dollars for this scholarship fund since the inception of our scholarship program and over 30,000 dollars has been awarded to our qualifying RWF seniors over the last five years!
We are proud to share that we currently have a 100% high school graduation rate among all of the Detroit Public Schools teens that have completed our five year program and a 100% college enrollment rate among them. We are also excited to salute our first class of RWF alumni that are also graduating from college this spring. We are proudly adding to our accomplishments that we have a 100% college graduation rate among the teens that have completed our five year program, the best of all outcomes we could hope for.

The RWF was founded in 2003 with the mission through our core “Girls into Women” Program to empower inner city teen girls towards becoming strong, confident, successful and moral future leaders. Since our inception eight years ago, we have been accomplishing this mission with the support of our sponsors and volunteers, through monthly programs, workshops and activities. Our career development programs include mentoring, a self esteem building summer camp, cross country college tours, extensive etiquette, public speaking, goal setting and confidence training, community outreach projects with homeless women and children, and so much more. “My dream is to literally transform these ‘Girls into Women’ while in our program over a five year period, from the 8th grade until they graduate from high school.” And that includes an ardent focus on instilling in every student the expectation that college is a must. It means not only preparing them for college with school visits, assistance with college applications, financial aid and scholarships but also providing support while they are in college.”
RWF has always been a 100% volunteer-driven organization with no paid staff and very little overhead which means nearly 100% of the money we raise goes straight to programs for our teens. RWF focuses on empowering at-risk but promising inner-city teens and in keeping with that theme, we need your support to make this worthwhile occasion possible for years to come. So please come out and join me for breakfast as we celebrate the achievements of these teen girls as they walk into womanhood. For those of you who have supported RWF in the past, the teens thank you and look forward to seeing you again. If this is your first time joining us or an RWF program, we hope you will be inspired to become a sponsor, mentor or volunteer. Thank you in advance for your support.
