Biography

Sheree Calhoun is an Associate Director for Local 4 news in Detroit. She is responsible for keeping the morning news and all the special projects flowing (Fireworks, Parade, Auto Show Charity Preview). Ms. Calhoun was born and raised on the Westside of Detroit, and educated in the parochial school system from preschool thru high school. Growing up as an only child, she longed for playmates, and made friends very easily. Always wanting to be a leader, as a youth, she started clubs and held various positions of authority throughout her school years. Upon graduation from St. Mary’s of Redford High School, she attended Florida A& M University in order to pursue a Physical Therapy career. Because the homesickness got the best of her after just one year, she returned to Detroit and switched her major to Communications. She attended Wayne State University and Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts to fulfill her dream of being in the Entertainment Industry.

Prior to her position at WDIV/Local 4, she worked for Channel 50, Comcast Cable (Detroit-local origination), and The Christian Television Network.

For Sheree, working with teenagers seems to be a calling and a full-time job. Sheree has been a mentor and cheerleading coach. A board member for the Rhonda Walker Foundation (teen girls), and Chairperson of Hope United Methodist church’s annual Historical Black College Tour. She believes some students don’t have a good foundation, and need to be exposed to as much as possible in order to REALLY believe they can accomplish more than they ever dreamed. Sheree is single with no children of her own, but calls so many children her babies.

Her hobbies include dancing, going to movies/plays, traveling, and RELAXING.
