About Us

The Rhonda Walker Foundation was founded in 2003 with a mission to empower inner city teen girls toward be coming strong confident, successful and moral future leaders. Our core program, Girls into Women is a five year program for teen girls starting in their 8th grade year and continuing until they graduate from high school. Over the 5 years the girls come together monthly for workshops, seminars, retreats, field trips and camps every month. These events focus on career and personal development. We also have a strong mentoring program where every teen is matched with an adult mentor. Please visit our Programs page to learn more.

We are deeply proud of the outcomes our program has on the teens we serve. They become more confident, improve their grades, set higher goals and become better children overall. We are proud to share that since our foundation began in 2003, 100% of the teens that have completed our 5 year program graduate from high school and enroll in college! 95% of these students are in Detroit Public Schools where the graduation rate is far lower.

At risk and promising teens with a 2.5 grade point average or better recommended by their teachers and counselors are selected for our program when they are in the 7th grade. These teens will begin our five year program the summer following their 7th grade year.

Eligible teens for our program must be incoming 8th graders and we currently recruit teens from 4 Detroit middle schools, Plymouth Educational Center, Consortium College Preparatory School, Sherrill Elementary Middle School and Detroit International Academy. If you are a parent, student, teacher or administrator with a teen girl in mind that fits our criteria please leave us a message with additional information about you and the teen by contact calling us at 1-800-652-2989 or sending us an email to info@rhondawalkerfoundation.org.

The Rhonda Walker Foundation is a 100% volunteer organization with no paid employees. We are thankful for our committed and hard working board of directors and volunteers that make it possible to positively impact the lives of our teens.
